Yesterday was rough. His pain plagued him throughout the day, especially in the evening. But. He still did his homework exercises and we took a walk. This program is intense. He’s moving more than he has in a long time. He’s sore and tired but he’s still doing what he’s supposed to along with actually having the pain that brought us here. There is no magic wand to just erase his pain or his cancer. No pills to cure it. Yes he’s amazing and I admire him for his determination but this has also been yet another neon lit arrow pointing directly to Adler’s poor worn out body that while growing up, hurts him. Daily. We are doing our best to keep spirits up and giving him all the love, comfort and support he needs but damn this pain. Damn it all. He asked me years ago “why can’t I just have cancer? Why do I have to have pain too?” It’s a question I could never answer and I still wonder myself.
