It was not growing pains. It wasn’t water on the hips. It wasn’t arachnoiditis. It was cancer. We just didn’t know yet. He’d been in pain off and on since September. Soon I would be taking him to the doctor for it. 7. Years.

VAT team gentleman “So you’re a pro at these huh?” Adler “yeah I’ve had over 40 MRIs” VAT team gentleman “Wow, you could teach a how to” Adler “Yeah. Yeah I could”. ✳️✳️✳️✳️✳️✳️✳️✳️ He did great, as usual, even in the neck brace. He’s got a little headache as do I but all went well even though it took awhile and got slightly shit show-ish at the end. No one’s fault just seemed that way. But what do you expect in 2020????? We are back at condo waiting on some Quartino’s for a late dinner.

6 years ago today we were here in Chicago staying at the Hilton just a couple blocks from Lurie for Adler’s MRI. We we’re terrified. He still wasn’t stable and we weren’t sure he’d have another Christmas. Sounds dramatic but it was true. He was still in so much pain and on heavy narcotics for that pain. And chemo was really kicking his ass. So not only is ever single damn day special that we have with him, but you betcha I’m gonna make his holiday season as magical as I can. Every single year!!!! And today he goes for another MRI. My goodness he’s had so many. And many to go. Every day and every breath is cherished. 🎄🎄🎄

✳️First set is from his cervical spinal biopsy surgery. They were taken about a month post op in August of 2019. You know the one where he lost the use of his arms. ✳️Second set is from his cervical spinal decompression and fusion done Oct. 29th 2020. Pics taken in November and Dec.3rd. Both very intricate and major surgeries. Both also life saving. Adler. Is. A. Badass.🦸
