Welcome to Our Blog

In 2017 we came to Disney on what we called “Our Wish”. We brought Adler for his 8th birthday. What a better way to turn 8 when he wasn’t expected to see 5!!! So. We came back to The Boardwalk this time to honor how far he has come in this cancer journey and because we really like it here. Way different times currently but celebrating life is what’s necessary. His life and the beauty of it. Keeping him here has been hard. Debilitating pain that has been eased some since the program and internal ways of living worked on as well. It is one day at a time and today is an Epcot day but all of them are appreciated more than I can describe with my words or my tears or my laughter. Thankful for this morning for sure as I recreated these pictures!!!

It. Was. So. Hot yesterday. Real feel 104. And it sure was. We found a couple spots to appreciate the AC and fans. Along with the heat and some other worries we almost took Adler to first aide but he didn’t want to make a fuss. Meds and a banana and lots more water and Power Aid….he kept going. We stayed hydrated, got cooling towels and Adler got yet another Disney cooling fan but man it was rather miserable at times. We kept reminding ourselves that at least we were miserable at Disney but damn that heat. Not to mention the walking for Adler isn’t easy. He’s doing it. He’s taking lots of breaks but it’s still uncomfortable for him. He had some other issues too that we worked through but they always leave him and me emotionally drained. But all in all we had a great day!! And we got to see Norma who we now officially call Aunt Norma!!!!

2 days ago, Adler walked into Magic Kingdom. He hasn’t done that since he was 6 on his Make A Wish!!! And even then after a few hours we got him a wheelchair. Not this time. Not to say he didn’t have pain because he did. He got very nauseous at dinner too. And some natural worries and fears were discussed while dodging the rain as we walked to Space Mountain, one of his favorite rides. Aaron’s taken pictures of us walking in every time even if I’m pushing him!! Even one time Adler got out of the wheelchair just to walk in and then got back in. The tradition continues!!! Walking!!!!
