We had Disney planned for last year at Christmas time to celebrate his 1 year finished with treatment. We actually planned it in Oct. of 2019. But. Covid changed that. Then we pushed it to 2021 at Christmas time to celebrate his being done with treatment. Excited to be off and he would have gotten to ring the chemo bell and everything. Well. Cancer changed that too. We are going now because we feel it’s better sooner rather than later. He didn’t stop treatment because he was done. He didn’t get to ring the bell. We stopped because it wasn’t working like they hoped. We stopped because of drug toxicity being a concern. We stopped because of the pain that has only increased since. We stopped because his body was telling us to. Stopping is not a “good thing” it was a necessary thing. Quality of life are the words around again the house again. So. We ran away two years ago when it grew. And now we are running away because of cancer again. We have done everything to make this trip as extra special as we can because we literally have no idea what’s next for Adler. Hope is all we have. And while we wait, we hold onto that hope and yes there’s daily pain but like he said three trips before this one too “well, if I have to be in pain, at least I’ll be in pain at Disney World” We fly out tomorrow morning. 10 days. With no doctors. No treatment. Pain will be there and worry will be tucked under my ears but for 10 days cancer can absolutely 100% FUCK ALL the way off!!!!!!!!!
