September is Hydrocephalus Awareness Month. You can clearly see Adlers shunt in this picture. The shunt was placed in an emergency as Adler had 3 times the normal amount of water on his brain. He was drowning. There is no cure. There is only brain surgery to fix it. He has a VP programable shunt set at 1.5 to properly drain the excess water through a tube to his abdominal area that has extra for growth. It’s expelled naturally by his body. Luckily he’s not needed a revision…..yet….. without that shunt, he would be dead.
