Yes you have to feed your kids during quarantine. Yes there are many kids that don’t have meals during quarantine. But……there’s also kids like Adler, on treatment that are hungry but food isn’t appealing to him. Food doesn’t taste good to him. He wants to eat but can’t. Or I make him what he wants a s he eats 4 bites after a half hour of deciding what he wants because he’s “full”. Sometimes he eats at 10:30 at night. Sometimes he barely eats anything all day. Sometimes it’s strawberry ice cream first thing in the morning…..well late morning for him. I know all the smoothie tricks and believe me, I am sadly a pro at this. But it doesn’t mean it still doesn’t suck!!! He can’t go to the store with me to look. Even before the lockdown it was hard for him because of fatigue and pain. So I would take pictures in every isle and send them to him and wait for his response if anything looked good. Adler was 4 when he began chemo the first time and that was very hard on him and his relationship with food has been forever changed. Now in treatment again, we are battling the food issues again. I will get him whatever he wants, whenever he wants. There’s no traditional eating here. There can’t be. And oddly due the way it’s been for so long with he and I, my relationship with food has also changed. It’s weird but that’s what’s happened. So, here he is enjoying some creme brulee from Artisan. He ate over half his steak too and some mashed potatoes. He also ate one whole biscuit with gravy from Temper Grille – Granger the other night. He loves tacos too so we eat those often and I put everything in bowls so he can make his own and that’s some therapy for him. Because let’s not forget he lost the use of his arms in July so I literally had to feed him for quite some time until he could do it again himself. There’s many layers to this picture. It’s definitely a struggle. And unfortunately, all part of the journey. Just me sharing a happy sight and maybe a lil insight too!! Bold As Love and as always FUCK CANCER!!!! 💙🌈⚓🅰️
